Also known as "processor cooler", a CPU cooler is used to cool the processor on the motherboard with air. There are different sizes and variants, depending on the space in the case and the installed processor. It is important to make sure that the cooler is compatible with your processor socket and that you have enough space in the PC case for the fan.

What types of CPU coolers are there?
Top-down coolers or top-blow coolers are installed in such a way that the airflow from the case goes towards the mainboard. The advantages of this are on the one hand the size, because they often fit into smaller cases and depending on the case also other components are cooled. Another type are the tower coolers. Very popular are the double tower CPU coolers. They are particularly efficient in terms of cooling capacity, but also rather large, which means that you need to have some space in your case.
