The XYH-5 X/Y microphone capsule features two matched, unidirectional condenser microphones arranged at a 90-degree angle. These microphones are housed in an advanced shock mount that utilizes robust external microphone cables and rubberized materials to minimize vibrations and handling noise. As a result, the XYH-5 is ideal for location videography as well as for live broadcasts or podcast applications. The design of the XYH-5 also allows it to handle extremely loud sounds – up to 140 dB SPL, which is equivalent to the noise of a jet aircraft from less than 200 feet away – making it perfect for recording live rock concerts and for electronic news gathering.
