Function of the ND8 Filter

Neutral density filters, also known as ND filters (Neutral Density), uniformly reduce the entire visible light spectrum across the entire filter. This does not affect colors and contrasts.

Use of the walimex pro Drone Filter DJI Phantom 4 Pro ND8

This reduction is beneficial in various applications. For instance, an extended exposure time can create motion effects in moving water or be used in bright environments with an open aperture and extended shutter speed. The gray filter used here, with a filter factor of 8, extends the exposure time by 3 stops.

Filters for which situation

CPL: In situations where light reduction is minimal, the CPL filter is used to prevent glare in video footage.

ND4: In low but direct light conditions, such as during sunrise and sunset.

ND8: On sunny but cloudy days.
