The Victron Shunt 2000A - 50mV (MPN SHU202050200) is required for current measuring devices with analog or digital display instruments, as these typically operate by measuring a very small voltage across a shunt. In the case of Victron shunts rated from 1000A to 6000A, the measurement voltage is 50mV. The principle is: the smaller the measurement voltage across the shunts, the lesser the impact on the remaining circuit of the system. With 50mV, this shunt provides an excellent value.

The shunt is installed in the line carrying the current to be measured. The small voltage drop across this resistor is evaluated with a measuring device such as the Victron Battery Monitor BMV 700 to derive and display values like the current flow.
