Argo FET Battery Separation
Similar to separation diodes, FET isolators allow for the simultaneous charging of two or more batteries through a generator or a charger connection without connecting the batteries to each other. Discharging the onboard battery does not lead to the simultaneous discharge of the starter battery. Unlike separation diodes, FET isolators have practically no voltage loss. The voltage drop is less than 0.02 volts at low currents and only 0.1 volts at higher currents. With the ARGO FET battery separation, no voltage increase is required. However, it is advisable to use short cable lengths and adequate cross-sections.
Generator Starting Excitation
Some types of generators require a DC voltage at the B+ terminal for starting excitation. On one hand, there is a direct cable connection between the battery and the generator. On the other hand, the separation diode prevents current backflow, which means the generator does not start. The new Argofet battery separation features a special current-limited connection for starting excitation when the generator is started.
