It allows for simultaneous charging of various combinations regarding the number, charge state, capacities, and sizes of the batteries. A shutdown procedure utilizes the fact that the voltage (Delta U) slightly decreases when the batteries are fully charged. The temperature of the batteries is measured during the charging process. If the temperature exceeds a certain value, the device automatically shuts off. After the charging process is complete, a low maintenance charge continues to flow to prevent self-discharge of the batteries. Defective cells are not charged and therefore do not damage the charger. There is detection of faulty, unsuitable, or incorrectly inserted battery types. A safety timer shuts off after a certain period, regardless of the charge status.
