Equipped with a SATA III 6Gb/s interface and a very compact design, Transcend's M.2 SSD 400S is ideally suited for small applications that offer very limited space but still demand high performance. For this reason, it is perfect for use in modern ultrabooks as well as slim and lightweight notebooks. Thanks to a powerful controller and high transfer speeds, the M.2 SSD 400S can handle both everyday routine tasks and demanding multimedia applications.

It supports the Power Shield feature to prevent data loss during sudden power outages. Additionally, it supports the DevSleep mode, which completely shuts down the SATA interface, thus saving more power than a traditional HDD. It also supports S.M.A.R.T., TRIM, and NCQ commands, has a DDR3 DRAM cache, and is RoHS compliant.

Transcend's SATA III 6Gb/s M.2 SSD supports Intel Smart Response Technology (ISRT), allowing the SSD to be used as a cache between the HDD and system memory. This provides the advantage of utilizing the maximum capacity of the HDD while still enjoying the system performance experience of an SSD.

ISRT monitors the most frequently used programs and documents and stores them on the SSD. This accelerates the loading of applications and significantly improves the system's response time, while all other data and programs remain stored on the HDD. In this configuration, only one drive letter is displayed. The SSD functioning as a cache does not have its own drive letter.
