The Rapid Embedded Development Brick (RED Brick) can be used to control other bricks and Bricklets. The currently supported languages include C/C++, C#, Delphi/Lazarus, Java, JavaScript, MATLAB/Octave, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Shell, and Visual Basic .NET, which can be executed directly on the Brick.
A program that controls bricks and Bricklets can be written and tested on a normal PC or Mac. Afterwards, you can transfer it to the RED Brick at the push of a button and execute it without changes. Several programs can be executed simultaneously, and their execution can be configured (directly after booting, every hour, etc.) and monitored.
Own projects can thus be realized very quickly and easily. To the best of our knowledge, there is no remotely comparable solution available.
For each supported programming language, the Tinkerforge API and frequently used libraries are preinstalled. Further libraries can be added.
The Brick is equipped with a micro HDMI connector, allowing programs with graphical user interfaces to be executed. A USB 2.0 host interface can be used for input and pointing devices, such as keyboards, mice, or touch screens.
With the Ethernet Master Extension, the RED Brick can be extended by one Ethernet interface. The RS485 Master Extension is also supported, enabling control of remote stacks of bricks and Bricklets by the RED Brick.
Advanced users can access the underlying Debian system with full access. A GPIO FPC connector allows access to selected processor signals and can be used to integrate custom developments.
