The questionnaire that Marcel Proust filled out several times in his life, at the age of 15 and 16 and in his early 20s, was a popular parlour game in the European salons of the fin de siècle. The cheerful and delicate questions were intended as a challenge to esprit, charm and inspiration. Proust believed that by answering these questions, one would reveal one's true nature and get to know oneself better.This notebook, which invites you to play along, contains all the questions Proust was asked and, of course, his answers, as well as blank lines for your own answers, in which you can try things out and surprise yourself and others.At the end of the notebook, you will also find the very first version of the questionnaire, which was only discovered in 2018: 30 questions with the answers given by the then 15-year-old Marcel Proust on 25 June 1887.
