For a fast telephoto zoom lens, the Tamron lens performs very well. This applies to resolution, vignetting and distortion.
The limitation to 180 millimetres is somewhat annoying. Unfortunately, the new Tamron also lacks an optical stabiliser.
As a particularly affordable and pleasingly powerful alternative to direct competition from Sony, the new Tamron lens is worth a closer look when deciding which lens to buy. If you want to save money in your wallet as well as space in your camera bag, you've come to the right place.
