The LC connector is a high-performance fiber optic connector for single-mode and multimode applications, characterized by low insertion loss. It is one of the most common types of fiber optic connectors. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fiber ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for a fiber optic cable. Due to its compact design, the LC connector allows for a high packing density, making it frequently used in fiber optic switches. In connectors with the APC designation, the end face is not only rounded but also the normal of the fiber end face is tilted by a few degrees relative to the fiber axis. This design helps to break reflected light from the core through the cladding into the air, thus preventing it from interfering with data transmission.
