The LC connector is a high-performance fiber optic connector for singlemode and multimode applications, characterized by low insertion loss. It is one of the most common types of fiber optic connectors. The design of the LC connector is based on a single-fiber ceramic ferrule with a diameter of 1.25 mm for a fiber optic cable. Due to its compact design, the LC connector allows for a high packing density, making it frequently used for fiber optic switches. Connectors with the APC designation feature not only a convex end face but also have the fiber end face normal tilted a few degrees from the fiber axis. This design allows reflected light from the core to be refracted through the cladding into the air, thus preventing interference with data transmission.
