SUNLU Silk Filament is formulated with additives that provide a subtle sheen without being overly shiny. Many PLAs contain various modifiers to achieve ideal printing properties or aesthetics. In Silk PLA+, the additives create the characteristic silky luster. While mica is a common gloss additive in colors, most Silk PLA+ uses a small amount of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) to achieve the desired effect. Since Silk PLA+ is a polymer mixed with special additives, the optimal settings depend on the specific material, brand, and color. Fine-tuning is necessary to achieve the best results with each Silk PLA+ formulation. The printing temperature for Silk PLA+ is slightly higher than that of regular PLA.
