The RS232EXTC1EU Serial-over-Cat 5 Extender allows you to extend the distance between your serial RS232 connection up to 1000 meters. This gives you the ability to install serial peripherals up to a kilometer away from your system – that's 65 times the distance of a conventional serial RS232 cable. The serial extender is a cost-effective method for serial extension. The complete hardware solution requires no additional software and can be easily installed using the plug and play principle. The hardware can be set up in just a few minutes using existing or new Cat 5, or even better, Ethernet cables. The RS232 Serial over Cat 5 Extender is ideal for industrial monitoring and control, point-of-sale applications, as well as security, medical technology, and traffic control applications. The extender complies with the RS232 standard and supports data transmission rates of up to 230 Kbit/s.
