Add an RS232 serial connection to a laptop or desktop via an available USB-A port.

This 1-foot (30-centimeter) long USB-to-serial adapter cable enables RS-232 serial communication for USB-A capable data terminal equipment (DTE), such as desktops or laptops.

Expansion of the Serial Port

The USB serial adapter adds an RS-232 serial DB/DE-9 (male) port to a desktop or laptop through a USB Type-A port. Secure the adapter to a serial device using pre-installed and removable DB-9 nuts, or install the included slotted D-sub thumb screws for compatibility with other serial peripherals or cables.

LED Indicators

The LED indicators for data transmission and reception on the adapter allow real-time monitoring of port activity. The USB LED indicates when the adapter has been successfully recognized by the desktop or laptop. All LEDs assist in diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Seamless Connectivity

The adapter is compatible with Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux. Drivers are automatically installed for Windows 7 and newer versions, macOS 10.15 and higher, and Linux. The USB-to-RS-232 adapter features COM retention, which automatically reassigns the COM port value when the cable is disconnected and reconnected or when the system is restarted.

The rugged TPE construction and Level 4 ESD protection (15kV air and 8kV contact) enhance the reliability and durability of the USB-to-serial adapter. Copper shielding minimizes electromagnetic and high-frequency interference (EMI and RFI). Gold-plated connectors improve signal conductivity.
