Product details

The VoiceBox Shield can be mounted on top of your Arduino board to give it access to all the capabilities of the SpeakJet voice and sound synthesizer. The VoiceBox Shield uses the SpeakJet chip to convert serial commands into a great-sounding robotic voice.

On the VoiceBox Shield, you'll find the SpeakJet IC, a two-stage audio amplifier with a potentiometer for adjusting the gain, and a standard 3.5mm audio output jack. Simply connect a speaker to the output jack and get your Arduino robot talking with very little effort!

You can control the SpeakJet either through its serial line or via the eight event input lines connected to digital pins 5-12. With a 3-way jumper, you can connect either the software (D2) or the hardware (D1) TX pin of the Arduino to the serial input of the SpeakJet.

The shield also features a grid of through-holes with a 0.1" pitch for prototyping, as well as the Arduino reset button. Headers are typically not included, but in the Play Zone, you'll receive two pairs of 8-pin and 6-pin stackable Arduino headers for free with this shield!.
