Product details

PIR sensors are primarily used in motion detectors to determine whether a person is moving in or out of the sensor's range. The PIR sensors are also known by terms such as passive infrared, pyroelectric, or IR motion sensors. The motion sensor is very easy to use: after the power is connected, the sensor takes about 1-2 seconds to scan the room. Once something moves after this time, the alarm pin goes low.

The sensor operates at approximately 160 mA at 3.3 V but can be powered with 5 V to 12 V thanks to the built-in voltage converter. If only 3.3 V is available, it can be fed directly to the voltage converter via a cable. The alarm pin is an open collector and must therefore be operated with a pull-up resistor. Once the alarm is triggered, the pin is pulled down. This allows multiple sensors to be operated on a single pin.
