Product details

This is a breakout board for the SP3485 RS-485 transceiver IC, which converts a serial UART stream to RS-485. The SP3485 is a half-duplex transceiver, meaning it can only communicate in one direction at a time, but it can achieve transmission speeds of up to 10 Mbps. This board requires very low power and can be powered by a single +3.3 VDC supply.

This breakout board includes the SP3485 RS-485 transceiver, a filter capacitor, and other components as shown in the schematic. The RS-485 output is provided through three different connectors: (1) an RJ-45 connector, (2) a 3-pin 3.5 mm screw terminal, and (3) a 3-pin 0.1" pitch header; none of these output connectors are populated.

Features:

* Fully equipped with SP3485 RS-485 transceiver and supporting components
* Operates with a single +3.3 V supply
* Interoperability with +5.0 V logic
* RS-485 input/output on RJ-45 connector, 3.5 mm screw terminal, and 0.1" header
* Driver/receiver enable connected to RTS line
* -7 V to +12 V common-mode input voltage range
* Allows up to 32 transceivers on the serial bus
* Short-circuit protection for the driver output

Dimensions: 0.9 x 1.0".
