Six years ago the Sony FE 2.8/16-35 mm GM was in our lab, now the FE 2.8/16-35 mm GM Il comes along and shows that a wide-angle zoom can also really score at the edge. At 2700 euros, the price at the start of sales is once again high, but unlike many other new releases at the moment, it has not risen...

Product details
With an aperture of F2.8 and a wide-angle zoom range of 16 - 35 mm, the powerful G Master opens up a wide range of possibilities. The lens achieves excellent resolution from the centre of the image to the edge with any zoom setting selected and at any focus distance, and an impressive background beam if desired. An uncompromising optical design ensures a particularly high resolution from the centre of the image to the edge for landscape and architectural shots or other similarly large motifs. Take close-ups with an aperture of F2.8 to capture objects sharply in front of dynamic backgrounds with wonderful bokeh. Sony's advanced dual XA (extremely aspherical) optics deliver exceptional resolution, reduced distortion and a wonderfully smooth bokeh. This small lens, weighing only 680 g, is the ideal addition to compact e-mount cameras and is not only easy to transport but also easy to operate.
