At the beginning of the 1950s, DUX developed a sharpener which makes it possible to adjust the sharpness of the pencil tip in three different ways. A knurl at the end of the sharpener allows adjustment
for three different pencil tips. The knurl engages audibly and perceptibly by turning. Depending on the setting, the pencil inside the sharpener allows the pencil to penetrate the sharpener to a greater or lesser extent. The precisely determined angle between cone and blade then leads to the desired point. Three different settings: 1. slightly blunted tip for colour pencils / 2. normal tip for pencils / 3. finest, pinpoint tip for drawing pens.
