Der günstigere Sennheiser in dieser Preisklasse ähnelt dem HD 518, kann diesem aber nicht das Wasser reichen: In Bässen und Höhen hielt er sich etwas zu sehr zurück. Sein Kabel ist zwar kürzer als beim 518er und mit kleinem Stecker bestückt, an gängigen MP3-Playern und Handys lieferte er aber ebenfalls einen etwas zu leisen Klang.
