The Pi RTC is based on the DS1307 clock chip and can provide a real-time clock (RTC) for the Raspberry Pi via the I2C interface. The real-time clock of this module counts seconds, minutes, hours, the date of the month, the month, the day of the week, and the year with leap year compensation, valid until 2100. The clock operates in either 24-hour or 12-hour format with AM/PM display. If you want the clock to keep running even when the Raspberry Pi is turned off, you need to insert a 3-volt lithium cell CR1225 into the battery holder.
