The Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is a device designed to provide redundant power supply for sensitive electronic equipment. It is powered by two independent power sources and quickly and automatically switches from one source to another when the power supply for the connected load fails. It serves for low-latency switching to an alternative power supply when the primary source fails. Due to the short switching times, especially in the case of phase shift, connected devices are protected from downtime. Automatic return switching to the restored power supply.
