The Seaboard RISE 49 is a revolutionary MIDI controller. It interprets the keyboard as a soft, continuous surface that responds to touch. Thanks to the unique "Keywaves", the musician can use intuitive playing techniques to shape the sound by striking keywaves, pressing them more or less forcefully into the surface or stroking them horizontally (left-right) or vertically (up-down) over the keywaves. With its five touch control dimensions (Five Dimensions of Touch), the RISE 49 allows a new level of expressiveness. The instrument combines the intense expressiveness of an acoustic instrument with the versatility of an electronic instrument.
RISE 49 sets new standards not only in terms of expression, but also in terms of portability. Thanks to MIDI over Bluetooth it can even be played wirelessly. The RISE 49 is very easy to transport thanks to its particularly slim design in conjunction with the soft case included in the scope of delivery. The case is made of anodized aluminum and is therefore particularly durable when the device is transported between home, the studio and the gig. The RISE 49 can wirelessly control Equator, ROLI's software synthesizer installed on a laptop or desktop computer. Moreover, thanks to NOISE, the mobile sound engine from ROLI, it can also only be operated with an iPhone: NOISE is available as a free download from the App Store.
The RISE 49 is part of the Seaboard RISE product family from ROLI. In contrast to the RISE 25 with two octaves, it has a game surface with four octaves. Due to its size, the RISE 49 is suitable as a full-fledged controller for stage and studio use. It combines the playability of a performance instrument with the portability of a MIDI controller.
Five dimensions of touch control ::::
The Seaboard RISE 49 allows the musician to control the sound in five touch dimensions. This is a decisive step forward compared to a piano keyboard, which only offers a single touch dimension for sound control with the "stop".
Strike: The force with which a finger hits a keywave.
Glide: The lateral movements on a Keywave or along the Keywave surface.
Slide: A vertical up/down movement on a keywave.
Press: The continuous pressure that is exerted after the Keywave is hit.
Lift: The release velocity or speed at which a Keywave is released.
The Seaboard RISE 49 transmits MIDI via Bluetooth to devices that support this functionality. Currently, this functionality is supported by Mac products starting with OS X 10.10 that have a Bluetooth LE chip. The RISE 49 connects to the mobile sound engine NOISE, which is available free of charge for iPhones and iPads from iOS 9+ in the App Store.
The Seaboard RISE 49 transmits MIDI via USB and Bluetooth to software applications on the OS X and Windows platforms. As with other MIDI controllers, it can be used with numerous digital audio workstations (DAWs). Unlike other controllers, the RISE 49 is a multidimensional polyphonic expression (MPE) product that uses multiple MIDI channels simultaneously. To ensure optimal communication between the ROLI software and third-party software, ROLI offers templates for operation with all leading DAWs.
Power supply and battery capacity:
The Seaboard RISE 49 is powered via a USB cable while simultaneously charging the internal battery. The battery and MIDI over Bluetooth allow up to 12 hours of wireless operation.…more
