Have been using the Zoom H1 for over a year.

Sound quality is good. It captures even the quietest background noise, creating a good sense of depth.

However, three issues make me a very unhappy user:

    1. Move the device
and you will hear wind noise. Makes it nearly unusable without a wind protection.

    2. It will empty the AA battery even when turned off. I always remove the battery when not in use. Problem with that, it will loose the date & time settings. I enter the current date prior to every use to get the files' date right, with flimsy up/down buttons.

    3. It is made of cheap plastic. Hold it a little too tight and you will hear *loud* plastic case noises on the recording.

Better spend a little more and get a better device.

I have been using the device (incl. all accessories) for 10 days and am very satisfied.
The recording quality is really excellent. The level can be adjusted so that the recordings are optimally recorded. In general, the
operation is good, and there is also a short, good manual.
    Tip:
Put a small piece of adhesive tape on the inside of the battery compartment so that there is no noise from the battery cover when recording in the hand.
