A super device to connect old devices via USB and perfect for photographers who need to quickly and often plug in their SD or micro SD. Besides, you can just remove the adapter & GO!

The Satechi USB-C Combo Hub is ideal for the new MacBook Pro or MacBook with the new USB-C jack. However, the plug wobbles a bit and you have to be careful not to remove the entire adapter when pulling out a USB device.

    The
SD slots are very fast and in general, you can't find fault with the product's workmanship. Alternatively, the hub can be plugged in either on the left side of the MacBook Pro or on the right.

But important: The hub always sucks battery from the MacBook! So if you don't need it to plug in devices then always eject it nicely and don't leave it plugged in the device.... Therefore, if you have an external SSD or other storage device very often plugged into the device I would rather buy a direct USB-C cable instead of using this adapter. Because with a great MacBook (Pro) you want to stay mainly mobile ;-)

    Conditionally recommendable

Works. Is ok for MacBook, but not particularly suitable for MacBook Pro, because it holds rather free-floating on this Mac and you have to be very careful not to bend anything. The SD slot is also very undefined and upside down. Price/performance ok. But that's about it.

    Pro

    • Works as advertised
    • Good selection of slots
    • Color coordinated well

    Contra

    • Wobbly
    • Not particularly suitable for MacBook Pro
    • No USB 3.1 pass-through
