    Super Dual Material 3D Printer

Super product, very well thought out. Not meant to be tinkered with like most 3D printers, and a rather "closed" system, which does offer some advantages. If you just want it to work without having to do too much with it, then this is THE printer. Probably the most innovative printer currently on the market.

    Pro

    • Super dual material function
    • Good print quality
    • Overall concept very well thought out, many automatic functions and innovations
    • Exchangeable print heads
    • Self-developed printhead interface - future-proof
    • Super print bed, no tape or adhesive needed
    • High printhead and bed temperature

    Contra

    • a bit noisy, but not tragic
    • a little bit low height, so far it did not bother me

Top product with excellent 3D results and price/performance.

After getting the benefit/taste of 3D Printing with an M3Dmicro, I wanted to go professional: After thorough evaluation of current 3D printers which deliver close to 100% repeatable professional results (precision & reliability, i.e. low waste), I purchased the Robox RBX2. The Robox concept is a successful Kickstarter project from 2014, which still had teething problems in 2015 - but since 2016 in the product RBX2 is now very mature. The Robox can be handled practically like an inkjet printer that can be bought today. No screwing around (tuning) to achieve halfway good results - no experimenting for hours until the best setting for material was found.
Precision of components is perfect thanks to 'closed' system (lid) with heated bed. I was able to print several solderless cases out-of-the-box for electronic boards where the fit of the pin holes was absolutely perfect - where the M3Dmicro also produced a case, but not usable (slightly warped/pin holes partly clogged). I have indeed since purchase also already 2x a clogged Nozzle had (and with the enclosed Polyflex support material?!) - but the excellent support website show how to remove them from the header. Also got perfect results with 3rd party PLA (with same settings as original PLA) - so you are definitely not tied to the manufacturer and their SmartReels. The Automaker software is proprietary but stable, fast and intuitive. After the print job is at printer, you can close SW and disconnect PC (printer has no display/control/SDCard slot for prints) - but this is not a problem for me, as MacMini is always running anyway.

    Pro

    • Out-of-the-box 3D printing of precision parts (immediately productive)
    • Convenient SmartReel system (empty spools can be reused/reprogrammed)
    • 3rd party filament also usable (via manual filament profile if not on SmartReel)
    • Extremely compact design, which fits on every desk/office
    • Precision and speed on par with Ultimaker 3
    • Many sensors detect and stop print (e.g. filament supply blocked) in time
    • After problem solving, object can be printed (practically no rejects)
    • From April 2017 expandable with software and further Robox printers to a 'Print Farm'.
    • RBX2 contains the latest components/development of the original RBX1
    • No raft printing - thanks to heated PEI bed - required
    • Closed system ensuring ideal temperatures for all kinds of material

    Contra

    • Could be quieter - but still run it overnight with office door closed
    • Due to its design, the installation space (especially height) is correspondingly smaller
    • No 100% autonomous printing yet - but SW solution based on Raspi will be available in April
    • Nothing for 3D printer hobbyists and tuners ;-) thanks to working proprietary hard- and software
