I was looking for an A3 printer and read that HP was better compared to other printers for several reasons (faster printing, less ink use, ...).
The machine does have a USB port but after some research and trying, it looked like only a Wi-Fi connection was possible. Eventually, the printer is connected to my laptop and prints A4 pages without much trouble. Printing A3 size however proves to be impossible. The prints do come out but the image, text, ... is completely distorted. It doesn't matter what software you are using. Rebooting, re-installing drivers, creating separate Wi-Fi network. Nothing works. Contacted HP helpdesk via phone and message but they didn't even bother to respond. Even though I believe it's a software error on HP's part, not having the option in HP Smart to connect it via USB is also a mistake.
I should have looked better at the details to find out it has no second tray. It is not possible to load both A3 and A4 at the same time.
Also: when you print black/white, the prints have a greenish color to them. Not sure if this is HP's standard black ink but it's definitely not black/white like the other brands.
Decided to buy the Canon TS9950 with absolutely no issues at all in paper size choice, connection, correct black/white and print quality. This one loads A3 in the rear tray and A4 in the main tray at the same time. Simply select in the software which one you want to use. Can highly recommend!

As printer cartridges only have the function of an ink tank (separate print head), more cost-effective replacement cartridges could be expected.
It makes little sense (for the consumer) to sell such a printer for under CHF 200 and charge over CHF 100 for a set of new cartridges. The ratio is not right, and in my opinion improvements are urgently needed. This does not call into question the fact that HP ultimately has to earn money with such products. But, with this pricing policy, one generally resorts to third-party products for cartridges. The same applies to the sales price of the print head, should there be a problem (which there may well be after a certain time).
Unfortunately, I have repeatedly noticed obvious misuse of update printer software.
Dear Old HP Company, we are happy to pay for good products, but we don't like it if we feel ripped off by the pricing policy for cartridges. It should be possible to find better solutions so that the bottom line is right for both sides.
