I've had my FiiO X5 3rd Gen for about 4 weeks now and I can't get away from it. I am practically closed off from the outside world. I would never have thought that my music could unfold like this with a high-quality HiRes player. Pure music enjoyment in new sound dimensions. Diving into new worlds! Admittedly, recently there are such "things" up to Fr. 4400! But if you take a look at the technology, you have to ask yourself if this is not a bit exaggerated. The X5 in its 3rd generation produces goose bumps when you have been "treated" to its music performance for 1 hour. The secret: a high-quality digital converter (as in the most expensive device) produces music without noise, clang and distortion in a dimension and dynamic that simply thrills. With a good pair of headphones/earphones (I use the FiiO EX1), you quickly forget about your mobile phone when listening to music. In addition to your own music with FLAC (losslessly ripped), it is also possible to use streaming services such as Spotyfi, Tidal, Jango etc. with the FiiO X5 3rd Gen thanks to Android mode via WiFi. Simply awesome! I am so happy with my new X5 3rd Gen. Sometimes the price middle way is the best way....

I agree with the reviews so far. One additional rating concerns the balanced headphone output. Next to the 3.5 mm headphone output, there is a 2.5 mm balanced headphone output. This can be used to connect left and right channels cleanly separated. I bought the corresponding balanced cable and converted my Shure SE846. It's quite impressive. It gives the impression that you can show who is playing where on stage.
Further, I use a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger. This typically charges the X5 3rd Gen in 40 to 50 minutes.

my main criterion for buying the FiiO X5 3rd gen was the sound, and it is absolutely convincing with this device. even when streaming high-res files via spotify or qobuz, the sound is completely distortion-free, very spatial, a real pleasure. the device is easy to operate and feels good in the hand. flac files require quite a lot of memory, but since the X5 3rd gen can be expanded with two memory cards, that's no problem.
