Epson EcoTank ET-4856
Epson EcoTank ET-4856
After 9 years and due to a mishandling, the HP Laserjet broke down. A thorough examination of the functions of the Epson ET-4850 would have saved me a few moments of frustration and therefore I do not judge the EG-4850 more negatively than the Laserjet it replaced, I just want to point out the differences that were important to me and that I now have to do without.
Scanner is NOT SMB or similar capable, direct saving of SCANS to a NAS via LAN or WLAN is NOT possible;
I had the habit of simply reading in various scans throughout the day and downloading the PDF's from the server at any time. With the Epson, a computer (or smartphone) must be running for the scanner to have a destination. Only from there, can you choose the NAS as a destination. Scan to cloud is a completely different function, not useful for me.
There is no USB A slot for a memory stick;
I have often saved scans directly to a memory stick, e.g. for customers who do not have network access. The ET-4850 has a USB-B (2) port, not a USB-A or C port. So I can't insert a memory stick and select it as the destination. But I don't think it would work with a USB adapter either, because the USB port is for connecting to a computer and the scanner requires the use of software on the target device to transfer the scan.
Dirt on the inkjet heads;
Can clog to the point where the cleaning programme will not help. Kits with cleaning solution, syringe and silicone tube as well as video instructions are available on the web.

EcoTank ET-4856, purchase 2/4/22, tests 2/7/22:
PRINTER:
1- and double-sided - very good
SCANNER:
- From glass - very good, NO distortion!
- About ADF (feed scanner) - unfortunately not quite clean, there is warpage in the lower right area down and (slightly less) in the upper right area up! This is not explainable to me. Also about correction function "skew correction" of the software not better - rather worse! See 3 photos attached.
Feeding a stack of paper works fine so far. Unfortunately, no double-sided scan possible!
FAX:
Connected to my phone line from the Fritzbox router. Setup simple. Works.
TINT:
Ink filling is unproblematic.
Three stars because of the poor ADF function!
Contra
Note: the scanner must be configured (in the advanced settings) to give the best results because by default it was disappointing (the white background of the pages appeared in light blue...).

I've had the printer for 4 months and use it almost every day, but the ink is running out very slowly... >Very economical.
Compared to my former HP OfficeJet 8650, the ink costs are only about 10%.
I changed manufacturers because my HP printer stopped accepting the original cartridges about 1 month after the end-of-life announcement. I've also had enough of the ink rip-off! I am very satisfied so far.

Software installed, printer ready, put into operation = works perfectly.
Previously also had Epson Eco- Tank (4550) worked just as well.
It is a pity that new forms of ink filling bottles have been made here (existing ones become unusable - sustainability?).
