Long live programmed obsolescence... A hearty round of applause.

No worries about the printing quality. On the other hand Canon, like other printer manufacturers (Brother, Epson, HP), is adept at programmed obsolescence. After about 3 years but after the warranty period (!), error message B200, 5C00 or others that, according to Canon, require repair by them at costs that obviously exceed the new value of the product. In other words: garbage.
I personally solved these problems thanks to a great persistence, my experience and knowledge in electronics and the help of Internet users.
Just to point out that my printer is a Pro-10 but I am convinced that there are no differences in the above mentioned points on the Pro-10S.

I still have the previous model, Pixma Pro 1.

Caution: In the previous model has a printer cartridge 36ml, here only 14. In the previous model I get a whole set of cartridges for about 250.- if I choose the cheapest at different dealers. Since the new cartridges are around 23.- francs, the price is almost the same with less than half the content. So the new printer model was only to get more money!

    • Print quality

    Contra

    • The only improvement I see is that cartridges now cost more.

    Super printer at a price

If you want to buy this printer, you need to be aware of a few things:

    - Such printers need to be operated regularly to avoid "stand damage". I have had the printer for a few days now and will print a picture at least every
    2 weeks.

    - Extrapolated, this means at least 26 pictures a year, which of course requires ink, which is quite expensive.

    - Such a printer for private use is in any case a financial minus business! Printer, paper and ink are an expensive trio, which is only worthwhile from a financial point of view if you sell a lot of pictures.

But when you look at the print quality of the pictures, it is worth the effort and the money. In my opinion, there is nothing better than seeing your own picture come out of the printer to give to someone who enjoys it, as in my case. Having your own printer completes the process of the art of photography.

Would absolutely recommend the printer if you don't care about the financial aspect.

Far too expensive if only used rarely

At least 1 cartridge is empty every time I use it. It always takes several printouts before a photo is successful.

    Pro

    • Picture quality

    Contra

    • Very high cartridge consumption

    The PROGRAF300 delivers!

The printer has been running smoothly for a month and a half. It has only smudged once and only at the edges. The images (colors, details) are really the hammer! No matter on what paper, whether A5 with margin to A3+ borderless.

    Just
as important as the printer is the software you feed it. Once you get familiar with the interface of the Canon software (professional print & layout), the handling works very well. Whether as a plug-in to Lightroom or as stand-alone software: images from the Apple media library or a memory stick or whatever can be imported, edited and printed directly with drag&drop in professional print & layout.

With the included inks I have now printed 6x A3+, about 10x A4 and about 20x A5 images (mostly borderless). 2 tanks (PBK, GY) are now empty, 1 tank (CO) soon. The remaining 7 tanks still have about 50% - 70% in them.

Once in operation, the printer should print something 2x / week, otherwise the nozzles can clog and/or the printer does a self-cleaning, which consumes expensive ink. This is true for all pigment printers and you should be aware of it. I see it this way: For a lens, you can quickly spend twice as much as the printer, paper and 1 year of ink together cost. Besides, the printer makes 2x / week joy! For me, printing is a hobby within a hobby and only with printing photography really makes sense :-)

    Pro

    • Precise color reproduction
    • Easy handling
    • Reliable operation
    • Pigment ink

    Contra

    • Regular operation required

    The madness

I am very happy about the printer and find the pictures insanely beautiful.
Where I still have some fear is the intermediate cleaning during non-use. It would give me more security if it is also on it.
    Regardless, there was
a star deduction for the price and the price of the cartridges. Yes of course for everyone who uses it every day it may be okay, but for me still a lot of money. The argument for our lenses we spend far more, is true but we only pay them once.
If the price does not deter one but a very great printer. For home also not too loud and not slow. I can only recommend him for photos.

Conclusion after just 2 months :(
The non-availability of printer cartridges is a very poor performance. At Digitec are not always all cartridges available and also not at Brack or other providers, if you then think "Yes then I order them stop at Canon directly" there it looks no better for 1 month I try to order there directly and every time there is an EMail "the article is available again" he is already no longer available. Therefore, there is also a further star deduction.
I am actually very satisfied with my Canon products, but you should not sell/manufacture a printer if there are no cartridges, then it brings no more than a broken or a printer for 50CHF.

    • Print from mobile phone or PC

    • Very rarely available
    • Long delivery time for the cartridges
