Brother DCP-L3560CDW
Laser, Colour
It seems that Brother has gone new ways with the installation and the end user interface/operation. If there are other, slightly older Brother printers on the same network, he has to switch back and forth between the newer GUI and the older GUI.
Replaces my two 15-year-old printers, a laser printer and a multifunction inkjet with scan function.
You can link it to Brother Online, but you don't have to. I haven't either.
You can configure it with a mobile app, but you don't have to. I haven't either.
We have a device here that doesn't need to be registered or logged in.
That's really cool.
And you basically don't have to configure anything if you don't want to.
To start with, I simply connected the printer to the LAN, set it up directly in the Mac and printed something out. Ready in <5 minutes!
I don't use functions like Airprint/Wifi printing.
A wired LAN interface was important to me. WiFi is available, but I don't use it.
The printer can be set up for the most important settings via the integrated display.
You can also use an app on your mobile phone, but I haven't tried that.
It's more convenient in the web browser, although I couldn't access the website with Firefox.
It worked in Google Chrome after accepting the self-signed certificate as an exception.
And that would also be my point of criticism. It's clear that self-signed certificates are set by default,
but it's 2025: I would have liked it to have a Let's Encrypt interface so that the print automatically pulls a certificate. It doesn't say anywhere that it can do that, but it would have been nice anyway!
The "One Touch" favourites are very practical.
For example, I have created various scan profiles, which are also saved directly to my NAS (SMB/CIFS protocol, but FTP or directly to Sharepoint are also possible).
Other buyers have criticised the fact that this printer cannot duplex scan.
That's true, but I don't need it. The documents I scan are usually printed on one side, so that doesn't hurt me.
An automatic document feeder was important to me, and it works very reliably.
Regarding the print image: You can set different profiles, e.g. how much toner should be used (keyword: toner-saving function).
For my purposes, the economy function is more than enough, at the expense of quality of course.
The colour prints are okay. Not outstanding, even at maximum quality. Professional colour lasers are much better.
For a simple colour print or colour copy, it is within my expectations.
After all, I use an inkjet printer for photo quality.
For the price, it seems to me to be a solid device. If it lasts 15 years, like the last multifunction printer, then I will be satisfied.

Very easy to install.
Not too bulky.
It works straight out of the box.
Color image quality not excellent but absolutely more than satisfactory.
Great quality of b&w text.
I have only had it for a day, but so far it is very good
WLAN printing from other devices is a great privilege for me.
