Get the software:
The (necessary) software for editing the device can be found on the Akai homepage, but in the wrong version. Only by searching through several forums and reading user reports can the version actually required be found. To download the software, however, an inMusic account is required (the parent company to which Akai belongs), which of course first blasts out all tracker and marketing guns. However, the painstakingly found software can only be installed on Sonoma 14.1 with Rosetta. Therefore, an old laptop has to serve as a replacement, as Rosetta is out of the question on the current system.
Using the software:
Editing the buttons and controls is programmed very awkwardly, the software looks totally outdated and not at all up to date. It has many bugs and comes from the previous model (mk1), which is now over 20 years old.
User experience:
One of the worst I have ever experienced. The joy of making music is totally gone. Which is a pity, because the hardware midi controller would probably be really good.
