As advised by your employee, this item is with external power supply and preformatted NTFS Item 5831248. have I ordered the wrong item?

The Canvio hard drives are WITHOUT external power supply, this is done via the USB connection. The pre-formatting can be re-adjusted at any time under Windows and Aplle. Basically, we have had very good experiences with regard to quality and durability.
