Hello, I have my RT6600ax behind a Swisscom router on which the WLAN is switched off. I use the WLAN from the Synology router and have a mesh network with a Synology WRX560. This works without any problems and is stable.
The modem or converter must be installed BEFORE the router, otherwise it will not work. You must know whether you have AON, GPON or XGS-PON. The converter or the bridge must be approved!
It is best to contact your supplier, they often have converters and bridges for their connections.
Hello,
If you want all your internet traffic to be protected by VPN, this router does NOT (to my knowledge) allow you to do this.
It is possible to install "VPN Plus Server" on the Synology RT6600ax and set up a VPN server on the router. This will allow you to access your home network securely from anywhere.
You can find all the documentation on this application here:
https://kb.synology.com/fr-fr/SRM/help/VPNPlusServer/vpnplus_server_desc?version=1_3
That said, this option may be suitable for you. It should be possible to configure the cameras to be accessible only from the home network (the Synology RT6600ax can easily be configured to restrict Internet access to specific devices...). To access your cameras, you just need to connect to your router via VPN.
...the question is whether a meshpoint is still necessary. The 6600 runs very stably in our house and covers a good 130 square metres on one floor with thick walls. I decided against the 2600 because of its age and the supply of updates.
Hi
Yes, the router works, just plug your Giga Box into the WAN port.
I also do it that way.
Only if you use TV with a TV box should it be connected directly to the Giga Box.
No, there is no SD slot, but on the far left there is a USB 3.2 interface for connecting an external storage device or printer.
All in all, the RT6600ax achieves a data peak of 6.6 Gbit/s, whereby it allows a channel width of up to 160 MHz.
Regarding the range, various tests speak of 400 square metres.
