hello all First of all - I am a layman. I have 2 Tapo200s in use at my house. I realise that this is not secure. Now it has officially happened (probably before), the cameras have been hacked! The other day I had the electrician (direct neighbour) here, he had a very close look at my router. Only a box from Swisscom. Now I have done some research. There are VPN routers where - if I understood correctly - the Tapos would also be safe. So I need a router that is constantly protected with VPN and that I, as a layman, have no problems setting up. Unless you have another suggestion. Can I recommend this Synology device? Is VPN constantly switched on with this device? Can I freely choose the VPN provider for this device? And which VPN provider would you choose? Thanks a lot!

Hello,

If you want all your internet traffic to be protected by VPN, this router does NOT (to my knowledge) allow you to do this.

It is possible to install "VPN Plus Server" on the Synology RT6600ax and set up a VPN server on the router. This will allow you to access your home network securely from anywhere.
You can find all the documentation on this application here:
https://kb.synology.com/fr-fr...

That said, this option may be suitable for you. It should be possible to configure the cameras to be accessible only from the home network (the Synology RT6600ax can easily be configured to restrict Internet access to specific devices...). To access your cameras, you just need to connect to your router via VPN.
