Yes, there is even a Netflix button on the remote control. However, I have not tried it. What surprised me is that it only has an app for Netflix and Youtube, but not for other streaming services or media libraries.
Hello - no, this is not possible. The X800M2 is generally a "non-smart player" without apps (in contrast to the newer X700 - apps can be installed here). The core competence of the X800M2 is the quiet playback of discs - no more and no less. It is one of the few that can play Dolby Vision and 3D discs.
MKV (only H264, not H265) and MP4 worked for me via the USB port. Ripping a Blu-ray or something similar will be too "illegal" for Sony, it's hardly supported (even if the legal situation in Switzerland is a bit grey). You can also play media from a media server over the network. But I have never tested this.
If I remember correctly, there was an o. k. HDMI cable was included, but out of habit I bought the best cable available...
You would have liked to help, but I personally have never noticed it until now, even though I have played both DVDs and 4K Bluray. The sound was always balanced.
Hello, Blu-ray Disc media are identified by a regional code, but unlike DVD players, Blu-ray Disc codes use letters rather than numbers to indicate the specific zones or regions where the discs can be played. Zone A: North America, South America, US territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and other parts of South East Asia Zone B: Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand Zone C: Asia (excluding Japan, Korea, Taiwan and other regions of South-East Asia) No zone: this is not an official statement. Discs with no geographical restrictions either have no symbol or show the symbol for all zones (A, B and C). The regional codes for commercial Blu-ray Disc films can be found on the back of the Blu-ray Disc cover. Sony Support EN
yes
Unfortunately, we have not yet received any ratings or reports on this. However, we have checked with other suppliers and there are almost always 4 or 5 star ratings and customers are satisfied.
Since the device supports Blueray, you can watch all Blueray DVDs with it.
Is not codefree or regionfree. Must be rebuilt, I bought here, with warranty. https://www.azone.ch/sony-ubp-x800m2-codefree-regionfree.html
Traditional IR. I have it inside a cabinet - must open the door to control the unit. Hope this helps!
On www.digitec.ch, it is no longer just Digitec/Galaxus that sells exclusively. It has now become a sales platform on which other dealers, including those from DE and AT, also sell. In Digitec's eyes, this is all clearly shown. 442.- from "das Warenhaus" (goods available) https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/sony-ubp-x800m2-blu-ray-player-bluray-dvd-player-10603858?supplier=3204073 519.- from itema systems (goods available)https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/sony-ubp-x800m2-blu-ray-player-bluray-dvd-player-10603858?supplier=3045767 260.- from Digitec (currently not available) Sony UBP-X800M2 (Blu-Ray Player) The order of display weights availability much higher than price, even if that can sometimes be 100% higher. If the price is much higher than expected, I recommend checking a price comparison site to see if something is wrong https://www.toppreise.ch/preisvergleich/4K-Ultra-HD-Blu-ray-Player/SONY-UBP-X800-p480529 but you are not alone with this problem: https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/QuestionAndAnswer/gerade-eben-habe-ich-mir-den-multicharger-bei-digitec-bestellt-nun-erhalte-ich-eine-versandbestaetig-359420 https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/QuestionAndAnswer/liebes-digitec-team-die-preisgestaltung-eures-partners-jacob-de-ist-eine-frechheit-ich-denke-ich-dar-359619
Yes and no. Actually, this would be an extremely simple feature and was already promised in the early DVD days. As it is with consumer electronics, it doesn't really work 25 years later. With some Blu-rays the position seems to be saved "just like that", with others not. But it's not just the Sony player, I've had the same experience with Philips products. What is the problem ? The discs, the codec used, missing meta data on the Blu-Rays ? Does anyone know more about this?
I believe the BD player can only accept discs for Europe plus discs without region restriction. So DVD 2 and BD B. Some years ago DVD players would typically accept all regions in Switzerland.
No. Only Netflix and YouTube streaming apps built in. Similar to Sony Bravia TVs. I stream music from YouTube. It can receive Bluetooth from smart phone, but the only protocols supported are SBC and Sony LDAC. The sound from CDs and YouTube HD are OK but I do not understand why it got five stars in WhatHifi.
Hardly ex works, otherwise that would be advertised. But Sony in particular is one of the advocates of dividing the markets into sealed-off zones. Ultimately, however, only software is involved here and it is possible to hack the player, of course at the expense of the warranty. There is a "region free" player on the Internet that is simply modified accordingly, but is it serious?
Every person has different sensations when viewing colour/contrast/light/dark, colours are also mediators of feelings. Since there is no relevant difference between Dolby Vision and 4K HDR (may also be in the very personal eye and perception of the viewer!) and the dispute between the "inventors" is turning to good account, Sony X800 has 4K HDR for the picture. In terms of sound, the player is equipped with Dolby Atmos, but this also requires a special loudspeaker system (each loudspeaker is controlled individually, even on the ceiling (i.e. no simple left/right arrangement). Important decision: buy the right TV set that meets all current requirements, including HDMI2.
Depends on the soundbar. The Sony only delivers the signal digitally. I would therefore say: Yes, a home cinema receiver is certainly the simplest option for 5.1++ sound.
