Sony UBP-X800M2
Bluray Player
Good evening to the community Thank you for your helpful contributions in the past. My question Can this BlueRay player remember the position of a certain number of discs...? ...and continue playing at the exact last position when I reinsert it, even if several other discs have been in it in the meantime? Which would be the idea? If not: does anyone know of other BlueRay players that can do this? Thank you & greetings
Yes and no. Actually, this would be an extremely simple feature and was already promised in the early DVD days. As it is with consumer electronics, it doesn't really work 25 years later. With some Blu-rays the position seems to be saved "just like that", with others not. But it's not just the Sony player, I've had the same experience with Philips products. What is the problem ? The discs, the codec used, missing meta data on the Blu-Rays ? Does anyone know more about this?
If you take out the disc (DVD, BluRay, 4K) and watch another one, the last position is gone. If you only turn off the Sony X800M2 (because you are tired, for example, and want to continue watching the next day), it simply continues playing at the last position. Watching from a disc, then watching something from the USB stick or via streaming apps and pressing the disc again in the start menu also works with the last position of your playback from the disc film. Pressing the stop button (by mistake) and then pressing the play button again also works without interrupting the current film. But as soon as the drawer has been opened once, it has forgotten all the positions and restarts.
I'm happy when it works for a DVD, depending on the...............make me a notepad:
Title / and minutes, always works. An application I don't really need. Hope you find enough information,
Good luck.
