I read that the telephone cable does not fit and therefore bought an RJ11 - RJ11 (Wirewin telephone cable RJ11). The cable fitted. But now I get the error message: Check connection. What else could be the problem?

I used an "ancient" cable, RJ11 to R&M telephone plug, then with an adapter cable back to RJ11. It is important that only the 2 centre contacts of the 6/4-pin plug are used. If your cable connects the contacts in twisted pairs and crosses them, it will not work. The cable should connect the contacts straight, perhaps best measured with an ohm-meter.
