Does the lens fit a nikkon d750? can you achieve good results with it in the area of insects,raindrops etc.? or which lens would be recommended and also still possible freehand to photograph this?

How does it compare to the Nikon 40mm macro? Would the 85mm be worth it? (distance to the subject)

Depends on the 85mm ;) and above all which camera you have. At 85mm you have a much nicer and softer bokeh than at 40mm. At 40mm, the background is quite visible... I would recommend this one: Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.8 G
