Official documentation says 4x DDR5, Maximum Memory Capacity 192GB. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z790-CARBON-WIFI/Specification Am I missing something? Thanks

I would like to get the motherboard for my i7 14700KF. As far as I know it is designed for the 12th and 13th gen of the i7. I did some research and supposedly it should work with a BIOS update to Gen14? Would this be detrimental to the CPU and motherboard in the long run, or will it degrade their performance, or will it work at all? I know there is a MAX series of the motherboard which is unfortunately very expensive and can't do much more than Wifi 7 and a few ports as far as I've seen.

Hey, it's not harmful for the CPU as soon as you have done the BIOS update, the CPU will run in this board. I use the same board with the same CPU.

Is the successor available with wifi 2? Is it worth changing?

Except if you really need either the slightly higher max memory, one extra fan header or the latest wifi tech, then the two models are more or less the same. I have the older gen and I don't even use wifi and 7 fan headers are plenty... also only using 64GB memory (can't care less that the max supported is 192 vs 256GB in the newer model).

Hello all, Is it possible that the specs are not up to date? For example, I find the info on the net that this mainboard has 5x M.2 and 6x SATA. I am just putting together my rig and this makes me extremely unsure. Merci for a short info. Cheers, JJL
