The two docking stations are technically identical, the ports should be adapted soon.
The "For Business" models are distinguished by an extended manufacturer's warranty service: Microsoft will send a replacement device if warranty services are requested.
The Microsoft Surface Dock 2 has a total of 6 connections:
- 2x USB-C ports (video-capable, support two 4K monitors at 60 Hz)
- 2x USB-C ports (on the front, for faster charging and higher data transfer rates)
- 2x USB-A ports
- 1x Ethernet connection
- 1x 3.5 mm audio connection
Yes, the Surface Dock 2 is compatible with the Surface Pro 11. You can easily connect two monitors and other peripherals.
When docked, press the Windows+P key combination and then select 'Expand' from the menu on the right-hand side, then all monitors should be active, including Surface.
The main connection is Microsoft Docking Port (proprietary), misleading information published due to the automatic import of product specifications into the database is corrected in the shortest possible time.
This behaviour is unusual and difficult to assess remotely.

No, that should not work. According to Microsoft, the Surface 8 Pro in conjunction with the Docking Station Dual can do 4K at 60 Hz.

Many greetings
No - or yes. I have had similar problems with the Surface Dock since the beginning, regardless of the screen model. With the first one, the screen started to 'shake' from time to time, even with a high-end USB-C cable. In addition, sometimes no signal went out on USB-C: the computer does not recognise a screen and the computer does not notice anything. The first problem with the shaking went away when I replaced the dock. The second problem could only be solved if the dock was disconnected from the power, screen and computer and then reconnected. The second problem can be avoided if the computer is only connected and disconnected from the dock when it is switched on (=screen on & logged in).
Basically, I like the concept that everything is connected with the one, magnetically held, connection. Unfortunately, however, the manufacturer has not understood the idea of a dock at all: I expect from such an expensive dock that you can connect the computer in a closed state and then start it by pressing a button on the dock (without opening the computer). This is a basic function for experienced manufacturers. In addition, a dock must always connect without any problems. Conclusion: Nice try, but absolutely unsuitable for business.
I use the Dock 2 on the Surface Laptop Studio. I don't notice any excessive heating. Could it be that the Surface Pro 8 only heats up because the battery is being charged? Then the Surface can get quite warm and the fan spins up. As soon as the battery is fully charged, the temperature and the fan speed return to normal. It is also important to make sure that the ventilation openings are free so that the hot air can escape unhindered. The fact that the plug gets hot only shows that the Surface Pro 8 "sucks" a lot of power. If this is not due to the activity of the CPU, it is probably the battery.
The units are identical and differ only in the source of supply. To ensure availability, we purchase from different sources. This is the reason for the difference in price and availability.
The Surface Dock 2 was designed more for the Book series, but in my opinion it is overpriced and outdated since the new Surface Pro's have Thunderbolt.
My recommendation is to buy a Thunderbolt 3 dock.
