It says battery operation, but I don't see any hours. Is this battery operation or is it only dependent on the mains adapter?

The device has no battery and is operated with a mains adapter. Battery operation is offered by the Marshall Kilburn, for example.

Yes, this works perfectly with the two Alexa skills TuneIn or SRF Audio.

Do I understand correctly that the new speakers are not compatible with the old ones? This means that if they are no longer sold, I will have a problem upgrading my system after 1-2 years?

These are two different devices. Unfortunately, we cannot obtain the Google model.
