Both models are technically the same, the only difference is the power cable (EU vs. CH). Yes, the docking station is compatible with the ThinkBook 16p Gen 5.
The Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 Workstation Dock (40B00300EU) is generally compatible with various Lenovo laptops and workstations, including those with Thunderbolt 3 and 4, USB 4, and USB-C ports.
For specific compatibility with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 (Windows 11 Pro), here are some important points:
- The docking station supports Windows operating systems and is designed to work with laptops with Thunderbolt 4 ports.
- The Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 should have a compatible USB-C or Thunderbolt 4 port to utilise the full functionality of the docking station.
- It is advisable to check the specific technical specifications of the ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 to ensure that it has the necessary ports and hardware support for the docking station.
As a rule, the docking station should work without any problems with the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 7 (Windows 11 Pro), provided that all requirements are met.
Hello
I'm happy to answer that, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Only one screen is running or the same image is displayed on both screens.
I run my MacBook Air M1 on a Targus DOCK190EUZ with two screens, but you need a driver for this.
Hope this helps. Greetings
Melchior
The docking station's power delivery (PD) did not work properly for me either, so I sent it back. One possible explanation would be. The docking station does not deliver enough power via the Thunderbolt 4 connection; according to the specification, Thunderbolt 4 delivers "less than 100W". This is in contrast to USB-C, which can deliver up to 100W with the PD substandard.
Presumably the 230W laptop does not support USB-C, but only TB4, or the laptop has a defect. The device with 170W (peak power) can cope with less than 100W and charges.
I think your notebook has two Thunderbolt-3/USB-C ports, you should be able to tell by the lightning symbol next to the port. Then this docking station will work.
However, the paired HDMI and DP ports are combined. This means that you can only use one of these connections at a time, i.e. max. 2 monitors.
This product is compatible with the following models: ThinkBook 13; 14; ThinkPad E14; E15; P73; X1 Carbon (7th Gen); X1 Yoga (4th Gen); X39X.
If you need to, please email us with the serial number of your laptop so that we can send you the compatible reference.
