Is this unit suitable for time switch operation in 230V mains operation? Can this unit be switched off and, above all, on again via a socket timer, i.e. does the unit continue to run in radio mode on the same station at the same volume after it receives power again via the timer?

I unplugged the cable in radio mode and plugged it back in after more than 10 seconds. That worked perfectly. I think this is also no problem with a timer :-).

When the slider is in the USB position, does it automatically play the music when you plug it in, without you having to press a button ?

No, unfortunately not. Only from USB.
