No - the power supply unit cannot be inserted into a retractable socket - an adapter is required.

Just like a kitchen radio. It doesn't have to be more than that. I often listen to information programmes where people talk and the sound is very clear. It is also suitable for music. Of course, it doesn't have a lot of bass, but it's really good overall.
