I use the Ballhead 5K tripod head on the 3k stand and can recommend the combination: The main reason for me is that straightening the camera on a once "bent" gorilla is practically impossible without the Ballhead. In contrast to the 3K head, the 5k head also has an interchangeable plate. By the way, the screw on the stand is normal in length from my point of view, but it looks shorter in the pictures because in addition to the "normal" thread there is also an adapter for wider threads. But I can't say if it's enough for the rail :-(

Hello Thomas The "Joby GorillaPod 1K Stand, can be attached like any tripod to probably any camera. It is small and can be quickly stowed away and taken along, I almost always have mine attached to the camera. I hope this answer helps you. Greetings. Erika
