I recommend small nails in the corners as well as double-sided tape. I had the same problem but on a plastered wall. You can also use staples on wood. If you absolutely must glue them, I've heard there are some very good aerosol glues.

It depends on the walls you have, if it's washable paint, the tape won't hold, if it's wallpaper, it will be ripped off when you remove the panels.
