This 24MP scanner with 600dpi seems good, but are there alternatives preferably from Taiwan (not China) and with open source software? Is the software free and how are the configurations? I read alot of bad comments about software from other brands, e.g. only available on CD. I need to be able to scan a lot of documents quickly with automatic OCR recognitions. So for books, magazine articles, papers without curvature. Ideally the AI upon OCR recognition should create a file name matching the image content automatically. Can it also merge individual scans into a single file before saving to desktop?

The IRIScan Desk 7 Business is a good all-round device for fast scanning + OCR + book/document scanning, with the included software. But if your focus is on open source, automation, free software and maximum control, then a classic scanner or a solution specifically advertised with OSS support may be better.

Is the natural curvature automatically corrected when scanning books? Or is it still a time-consuming manual correction?

I always try to keep the sides of the pages as flat as possible with my fingers. This works well because the fingers are automatically hidden. I'm happy with the device as I often have to scan sheet music that is slightly larger than A4. This is the quickest and easiest way to do this, everything is always on it, you don't have to "circle" like with a flatbed scanner.
