I always try to keep the sides of the pages as flat as possible with my fingers. This works well because the fingers are automatically hidden. I'm happy with the device as I often have to scan sheet music that is slightly larger than A4. This is the quickest and easiest way to do this, everything is always on it, you don't have to "circle" like with a flatbed scanner.
I can confirm that you only need to hold the ends of the pages if the book is a large volume. It's a shame, though, that the Readis pdf 23 software that comes with it has to be paid for! Given the price of the scanner, I was expecting a nicer deal! Depending on the original document, the OCR function isn't always very effective! You have to go back to the document and correct it. The scanning speed is fabulous! Nothing like a flatbed scanner! All in all, it's a great service. Good buy, I'd recommend it!
I can confirm the information given so far. For me, levelling the curvature almost always works. But not always; however, this does not interfere with the OCR function. I have also noticed how important it is to hold the book pages sideways so that it works. Also great: the function that automatically continues scanning if you hold your fingers and the book still.
We have the 6 model but it works on the same principle as the 7. The curvature compensation is automatic after setting the "book" function. However, the quality of the final result decreases with increasing thickness of the brochure/book (an extreme case with a thousand-page publication). Note that we are looking for a trick to better crush the book, for example a kind of frame?!
