The Intel Core i7-7700K belongs to the 7th generation of Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake), which are not officially supported by Microsoft for Windows 11. Windows 11 generally requires a CPU of the 8th generation or newer. Nevertheless, there are some options:
Options for upgrading or using Windows 11:
1. install Windows 11 despite unsupported CPU
- Microsoft makes it possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported CPUs with a workaround. Some settings must be adjusted manually (e.g. via a modification in the registry). However, there are restrictions:
- No guarantee for security updates or support.
- System stability could be impaired.
2. upgrade mainboard and CPU
- In order to obtain full support for Windows 11, it would make sense to upgrade the hardware to a compatible CPU (8th generation or newer) and possibly a compatible mainboard.
- Examples of suitable CPUs:
- Intel Core i5-8400 or newer
- Intel Core i7-8700 or newer
- AMD Ryzen 2000 series or newer
3. alternative operating systems
- If a hardware upgrade is not an option, you can stay on Windows 10 (supported until October 2025) or consider another operating system (such as Linux)
4. check and activate TPM 2.0
- Windows 11 also requires TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module). Check whether your mainboard supports TPM and activate it in the BIOS. If your mainboard does not have a TPM module, a hardware upgrade is necessary.

Hey, if you're cooling with air. I would get a proper tower cooler.
Otherwise, any AIO or Wakü should be able to cope.
The topic of power limits is interesting. Here you can not only save power but also reduce the waste heat accordingly with hardly any loss of performance in games.
I've found the video for you, I've limited mine to 120W myself... but with a Wakü, so not because of the temperatures.

The socket (LGA7000) fits, but you need to check whether your mainboard has a 600 or 700 chipset.
And whether you have 2 power connectors for the CPU on the mainboard/power supply unit.
