You can use any mainboard with an LGA1700 socket for this processor. Which models make sense for you depends on which applications you want to use and which form factor fits in your case (ATX, mATX, ITX). If you would like a precise recommendation, you can simply request advice via our Galaxus Assistant. There you will receive a suitable selection based on your requirements.
If you want to use a processor with socket LGA1700, you can use almost all mainboards with this socket. Which motherboard is ideal depends heavily on what you plan to do with your PC and which case you have - i.e. which form factor (ATX, mATX, ITX, etc.) fits in.
In this case, we will refer you to our digitec Assistant, which provides direct contact options so that you can be helped accordingly.

The Intel Core i7-7700K belongs to the 7th generation of Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake), which are not officially supported by Microsoft for Windows 11. Windows 11 generally requires a CPU of the 8th generation or newer. Nevertheless, there are some options:
Options for upgrading or using Windows 11:
1. install Windows 11 despite unsupported CPU
- Microsoft makes it possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported CPUs with a workaround. Some settings must be adjusted manually (e.g. via a modification in the registry). However, there are restrictions:
- No guarantee for security updates or support.
- System stability could be impaired.
2. upgrade mainboard and CPU
- In order to obtain full support for Windows 11, it would make sense to upgrade the hardware to a compatible CPU (8th generation or newer) and possibly a compatible mainboard.
- Examples of suitable CPUs:
- Intel Core i5-8400 or newer
- Intel Core i7-8700 or newer
- AMD Ryzen 2000 series or newer
3. alternative operating systems
- If a hardware upgrade is not an option, you can stay on Windows 10 (supported until October 2025) or consider another operating system (such as Linux)
4. check and activate TPM 2.0
- Windows 11 also requires TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module). Check whether your mainboard supports TPM and activate it in the BIOS. If your mainboard does not have a TPM module, a hardware upgrade is necessary.
Recommendation
If you want to work with Windows 11 in the long term and need the latest functions and security updates, we recommend upgrading to compatible hardware (CPU + mainboard).
Would you like me to help you choose components?
Hey, if you're cooling with air. I would get a proper tower cooler.
Otherwise, any AIO or Wakü should be able to cope.
The topic of power limits is interesting. Here you can not only save power but also reduce the waste heat accordingly with hardly any loss of performance in games.
I've found the video for you, I've limited mine to 120W myself... but with a Wakü, so not because of the temperatures.

I'm copying our comment below from our magazine article:
The procedure is as follows: Anyone with affected processors purchased individually as a box can contact Intel directly. Anyone who bought the processor as part of a system should contact the manufacturer concerned.
The socket (LGA7000) fits, but you need to check whether your mainboard has a 600 or 700 chipset.
And whether you have 2 power connectors for the CPU on the mainboard/power supply unit.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a promotion for this product on our site. If Intel has a promotion running, you would need to contact them directly. If we have promotions with the manufacturers, we will state this in the product along with instructions on how to redeem it.
